Surrounded by moats, the castle enjoys a remarkable location, 7 km from the city of Mons, European Capital of Culture in 2015 and +/- 2 miles from a motorway exit.
Founded in 1979, the association "Les Amis du Chateau des Ducs d'Havré" aims to promote the preservation and restoration of the listed building in 1936 and its reintegration into today's economic life. It employs 8 full-time workers under the Employment Promotion Aids (EPA) scheme. The non-profit organization is mainly run by volunteers, most of whom are present on the board of directors. Two representatives of the Province of Hainaut and one representative of the "Maison du Tourisme" in the Mons region also participate.
If you are passionate about safeguarding a classified heritage, we share common values.
